UPE film is characterised by its non-polar nature; consequently, UPE films, which exhibit low dielectric loss and high dielectric strength, possess excellent electrical properties. UPE film can be used as a frequency-modulation insulation material, a corona-resistant plastic and a high-voltage insulation material.
UPE film offers excellent wear resistance and abrasion resistance. It also possesses good low-temperature impact resistance, self-lubricating properties, non-toxicity, water resistance and chemical resistance. UPE film is well worth purchasing. It offers a wide range of applications and is affordable, with a low price point. It is a thermoplastic engineering plastic product with exceptional performance, combining virtually all the advantages of plastics. It is also unrivalled by ordinary polyethylene sheets and other engineering plastics. In fact, there is currently no other simple polymer material that possesses such a wide range of outstanding properties.
Abrasion resistance: UPE film boasts the highest abrasion resistance of any plastic, surpassing that of some metals. Compared to metals, it is one-seventh as hard as carbon steel and one-twenty-seventh as hard as brass. Such high abrasion resistance makes it difficult to assess using standard plastic abrasion test methods; consequently, a specialised mortar abrasion testing apparatus has been developed. The abrasion resistance of UPE film is directly proportional to its molecular weight: the higher the molecular weight, the greater the abrasion resistance.
Impact resistance: Compared with other engineering plastics, UPE film ranks among the highest in terms of impact strength. The impact strength of UPE film is approximately twice that of PC, five times that of ABS, and more than ten times that of POM and PBTP. Its impact resistance is so high that it is difficult to fracture or damage the material using standard impact testing methods. When the molecular weight is 1.5 million, the impact strength increases with rising molecular weight, before gradually decreasing as the molecular weight continues to increase. It is worth noting that it retains excellent impact strength even in liquid nitrogen (-195°C), a property not found in other plastics. Furthermore, the surface hardness remains high even after repeated impact.
Self-lubricating properties: UPE film has a low coefficient of friction (0.05–0.11), giving it excellent self-lubricating properties. When used in sliding or rotating applications, it performs better than steel or brass even when lubricated. UPE film can withstand a wide range of corrosive media, such as acids, alkalis and other organic substances, within certain temperature and concentration limits.
